Start at Marangu Gate, acclimatize at Horombo Hut, cross the Saddle to Kibo and summit Uhuru Peak at sunrise.
Start your trek at Marangu Gate. Hike through the lush rainforest to Mandara Hut. Keep an eye out for Colobus monkeys!
Leave the forest behind and enter the moorland. The views open up as you reach Horombo Hut (3,720m).
A crucial rest day at Horombo. Short hike to Mawenzi Ridge to help your body adapt to the altitude.
Cross the lunar landscape of the Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Arrive at Kibo Hut (4,703m).
Midnight start for the final push to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Witness the sunrise from the Roof of Africa.
Descend through the forest to Marangu Gate. Receive your summit certificate and celebrate!
